Car Club & Car Sharing

Willow Park Car Club

Car clubs are an easy, flexible way to travel more sustainably. Simply book a car when you need one, use it for your journey, and return it to the same dedicated parking space when you are finished. Cars are available 24/7, and you only pay for the time and distance you use.

Bookings can be made online, through the app, or by phone, from as little as 30 minutes to several days at a time. Your membership includes insurance, cleaning, servicing and maintenance, making it a convenient alternative to owning a second car. At the end of your booking, please return the vehicle with at least a quarter of a fuel tank.

Willow Park will have a Car Club located within the Community Hub car park and all new residents can benefit from two years of free membership, as well as a £50 drive-time voucher. This membership also gives you access to other Enterprise car club vehicles across the UK, not just your designated local vehicle. Details of your car club vehicle will be available here once it is in operation.

Car clubs are becoming increasingly popular in villages, towns and cities across the country. By giving residents access to a car only when they need one, they can help reduce the need for second-car ownership, ease pressure on local roads, and free up parking spaces.

Research by CoMoUK found that, on average, each car club vehicle can remove up to nine private cars from the road in England and Wales. As more residents use the scheme, this impact could grow over time. Car clubs can also support cleaner local travel, as vehicles are typically low-emission or Clean Air Zone compliant.

Car Sharing

Around 2.5 million people share their commutes to work every year in the UK.

This removes 1.25 million cars from roads and saves around 1.25 million tonnes of CO2 per year. Car sharing is a great way to reduce the amount of solo car trips on our roads not only for work trips but for all trips. Other benefits include:

  • Reduce the need for parking
  • Meet new people in your community
  • Save on average £1,000 per year
  • Reduce the stress of driving

Car sharing aims to not only cut the costs of travel to work for you but it also reduces the numbers of residents making similar journeys at the same time, thereby reducing peak hour congestion on routes between the site and local employment areas. This in turn helps to reduce vehicle emissions, contributing to meeting local air quality targets.
